Two Follett ice machines reported as not working at an Old Street hospitality venue. Solenoid inlet valve fault on one, faulty timer on the other. Bypass restored the second machine to operation on the day; replacement parts ordered for the first.
Venue manager reported both ice machines not producing ice. Single visit dispatched to triage both.
Located the first Follett ice machine. Unit was in poor general condition. Condenser cleaned and debris removed as a first-pass fix to rule out airflow issues.
Ran the unit on test. Operated for approximately five seconds before stopping. Further investigation confirmed a faulty inlet solenoid valve: water supply to the unit confirmed but the valve was not opening / closing as required on command.
Replacement solenoid valve ordered. Return visit scheduled to fit on arrival.
Second Follett identified a faulty timer on the plug socket (the unit had been wired through a timer rather than mains-direct). Removed the faulty timer and connected the unit directly to the mains supply. Tested. Second ice machine now operating correctly.
Both ice machines would benefit from a full deep clean. Noted on the job card and recommended at the next service visit.
Two-machine ice machine triage visit including diagnosis, condenser clean, plug-timer removal and direct mains connection typically £180-£320 + VAT depending on time. Return visit to fit a solenoid valve typically £120-£180 + VAT plus parts.
Same-day London response on most weekdays. Friday and Saturday-night cover for hospitality.
