What we cover

The commercial kitchen gas line.

Annual CP42 across catering appliances

Tightness test on the gas train, combustion analysis on every appliance, safety device check (FFD, pilot, thermocouple), ventilation review, gas interlock test if installed. Written CP42 record issued and filed against the property. See our case studies for recent examples.

Gas interlock testing

Required under IGEM/UP/19 for most commercial kitchens with forced canopy extract. We verify the interlock cuts the gas supply when extract airflow drops below threshold, with the ECV closing within the spec window. Compliance documented on the CP42.

Service and repair

Failed FFD, weeping ECV, ignition fault, burner cleaning, regulator replacement. Common stock parts on the van. Same-day London response on most weekdays.

New equipment installs

New range or oven install, gas connection sizing, ECV check, commissioning, gas-tightness verification, CP42 documentation. Coordinated with the equipment supplier where applicable.

FAQs

Catering gas: what operators ask.

Which catering brands do you service?

Standard stock: Lincat, Falcon, Blue Seal, Garland, MKN, Rational, Convotherm. Tilting kettles, salamanders, fryers, chargrills, pasta cookers, six-burner ranges, ovens. Less common brands handled via the trade network for parts.

What is a gas interlock and do I need one?

A gas interlock cuts the gas supply automatically if the canopy extract fan fails or airflow drops below threshold. Required under IGEM/UP/19 guidance for most commercial kitchens with a forced-extract canopy. If your kitchen does not have one and is on natural gas, this should be addressed.

Can you book around service hours?

Yes. Standard catering windows: 7-9am (before prep) or 14:30-16:30 (between lunch and dinner). We do not book catering work during the service window unless the kitchen is closed for the day.

What if you find a fault during CP42 on the catering line?

Critical faults (gas leak, dangerous appliance, FFD failure on a live appliance) get isolated on the spot, Gas Warning Notice filed, kitchen team informed, remediation discussed. Non-critical advisories listed on the CP42 with recommended timeframes; usually addressed at the next service visit.

Do you handle catering equipment installs?

Yes. New range or oven install, gas connection sizing, ECV check, commissioning, gas-tightness verification, CP42 documentation. Coordinated with the equipment supplier (Nisbets, JLA, etc.) where applicable.

Catering CP42 due? Or service-down?

Booked around your service window. Gas Safe registered. Friday/Sat-night cover for emergencies.
