FAQs

CP12 / CP42 common questions.

Why do so many sites call commercial gas safety "CP12"?

CP12 has become a generic shorthand for "the gas safety certificate", partly because it was the original Corgi paperwork code. Legally though, CP12 is for domestic landlord installations. The correct commercial form is CP42. Plenty of commercial buyers ask for "a CP12" when they mean CP42, and we'll just issue the right one regardless of what was asked for.

How long does a commercial CP42 visit take?

For a single appliance, typically 60-90 minutes including the tightness test, combustion analysis and paperwork. Multi-appliance sites take half a day to a full day depending on access.

Do you offer batched pricing for multi-site portfolios?

Yes. Three or more sites coordinated into one visit schedule typically attract a 10-20% discount versus single-site pricing.

What happens if you find a fault during the CP42?

If the fault is critical (gas leak, dangerous appliance) we'll isolate it on the spot, file a Gas Warning Notice, and discuss remediation. Non-critical advisory items get listed on the CP42.

How quickly can you book me in?

For routine CP42 work in London or the south east, usually within 1-2 weeks of enquiry. For urgent insurance-renewal or sale-of-business deadlines, often within 48 hours.

Can I verify the engineer's Gas Safe registration?

Yes. Every CP42 we issue has Stewat Rogers's Gas Safe License (919290) and Registration (5608537) on it. Verify on the Gas Safe register.
